Fruit prints

If theres one thing that I am a sucker for, its a gorgeous bold print. So theres absolutely no doubt that I am head over heels in love with the deliciously trendy Fruit Prints that is so popular this season! From strawberries and pineapples to watermelons and tomatoes, fruits make such a colorful and lively print for summer. For those of you who are print shy, an accessory like a fruit print scarf, earrings or even shoes is the best way to test this trend out for yourself. Whether you decide to try this cheery look with small touches like an accessory or go all out in a fruit print outfit, this trend will definitely zest up your summer wardrobe. (and enhance your mood too, I kid you not 😉 ). If you decide to try an entire outfit, the trick to make a fruit print outfit look chic and not gawdy is to be  keep the rest of your outfit subdued : almost no accessories, or neutral ones like gold or beige.

I am so excited to team up with my dear friend and fellow fashionista (and aspiring blogger) Sushmitha to showcase our take on fun Fruit prints! Sush and I have been friends for about 9 years. We went to college together in India and always shared our love for fashion since then. It had been over three years since I had met this pretty lady, and I was so happy that I finally got the chance to reunite with her, catch up (especially after both of us were married!) and do this shoot on our recent trip to upstate NY. Sushmitha has a fabulous sense of style, and it is so similar to my personal taste in style. It is not even funny how many pieces of clothing and accessories we have in common; completely coincidental! I LOVE the fact that she can make a PhD budget work for a fantastic wardrobe. Definitely follow her on Instagram and Chictopia, and stay tuned for her very own blog!

As for our outfits : Sushmitha wore this adorable tomato printed dress. Her accessories were simple : a gold bracelet and gold wedges with a neutral picnic basket/bag. As I had mentioned earlier, keeping her accessories minimal let her beautiful dress speak for itself.

Dress : Moddeals (similar one at ASOS )

Sandals : Make Me Chic

Bag : Her dear Grandma’s bag 🙂

I wore this two piece Watermelon set from Calico. If it gets a little chilly, throw on a denim jacket over this look. I decided to go nada on the accessory front, except for a bold lip and summer wedges. I also love this cute Pineapple Romper from Calico.
